The four Skytrain stops, mostly in the southern part of Burnaby, provide the community easy access to the rest of the Vancouver area.

Burnaby the City was named after Burnaby Lake, which in turn was anamed for Robert Burnaby (1828-1878) who was the private secretary to Colonel Richard Moody, commanding officer of the Royal Engineers during the survey of New Westminster in 1959. Incorporated as a district municipality in 1892, Burnaby became a city in 1992.
