Homes: British Properties (West Vancouver)

The British Pacific Properties (Upper Levels Exit 13) is an upscale residential area in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was purchased by A.R. Guinness-Br. Pacific Properties in 1932 and developed as the British Properties. 1,600 acres were purchased at a cost of $50 per acre. The British Properties helped finance the development and construction of the Lions Gate Bridge which opened in 1938. Today, the average single family house is built for in excess of $4,000,000, and it is home to some of Vancouver's most affluent families. Further up the hill are new homes in the community of Glenmore.

These neighbourhoods have great views over Burrard Inlet, the City of Vancouver, and the Strait of Georgia, and have excellent proximity to Vancouver via the Lion's Gate Bridge and to Vancouver Island and Whistler via the Upper Levels Highway.

Shopping
This area, being a high-end development, does not have much in the way of 7-11's and the like. Area residents head down the hill via Taylor Way to Park Royal Shopping Centre for their shopping

Schools
This community is served by Westcot Elementary School and Sentinel Secondary School.

Recreation
There are a number of parks and ravine areas around the community, including Ballantree at the top of the hill, and Capilano Regional Park to the east. The community is home to the prestigious Hollyburn Country Club, and golfers can enjoy the Capilano Golf Club. Skiing and other outdoor activities are close-by at Cypress Bowl and Cypress Provincial Park (just 3 exists over on the Upper Levels Highway)

Homes
Almost all of the homes her are single-family houses. About half the area's homes were built post-war up to 1960, and quarter over the 1970s, and about a fifth since then.
