Greater Vancouver Neighbourhoods: Burkeville in City of Richmond
Burkeville is small, intimate cottage-style community on Sea Island, right next to the Vancouver International Airport (but between the two main runways). Burkeville is isolated from the rest of Richmond and from Vancouver by a total of four bridges, though it will shortly have SkyTrain access to Richmond and Vancouver.
Local parks, small "cottage" housing, and significant trees distinguish this heritage community.
There is no shopping in Burkeville, either at the Bridgeport Market or at the various shops & malls in Richmond's city centre.
The neighbourhood has pretty parks, and close by is access to several marinas, the new UBC Boathouse (for rowing & dragonboats), and the recreational pathways along Richmond's seawall dyke system.
Sea Island has an elementary school, but residents must head into Richmond for secondary school (Station Stretch Sr), public libraries and any post-secondary institutions of higher learning, including nearby Kwantlen University College.
