Homes: Canyon Heights - Forest Hills (North Vancouver)

Canyon Heights (upper Capilano) is built around MacKay Creek, with Capilano Road to the west and Highland Blvd to the east. The most expensive homes are closer to the Capilano River, among the most pricey in North Vancouver.

Forest Hills lies on the west side of Mosquito Creek, south of Handsworth Rd and west of Skyline Drive, and is a neighbourhood with a smoothly sloped area with older homes with views of the Lions Gate Bridge and Stanley Park. Access to Downtown Vancouver is quick via Capilano Road to the Lions Gate Bridge.

Shopping
To the south is the popular Edgemont Village shopping district. There is also the Westview Shopping Centre, south of Queens on Delbrook. Locals also take Capilano Road south to West Vancouver's Park Royal Shopping Centre, with lots of additional shops on either direction along Marine Drive,.

Schools
The area is served by Highlands Elementary in the south and Cleveland Elementary in the west and Canyon Heights Elementary in the north, and the popular Handsworth Senior Secondary School.

Recreation
Skiers and hikers head up to Grouse Mountain Ski Resort, and picnickers head to Capilano River Regional Park (and scenic Capilano River Canyon). The beach is down Capilano Road in West Vancouver's Ambleside Beach. Down the hill is William Griffin Park, just above the Upper Levels, with a community hall and an indoor pool.

Homes
Canyon Heights has homes ranging from recently-built a 2000 sq ft homes on a narrow lot to 5000 sq ft executive homes on a 1/3 acre. Most homes are 40 years or younger, with a large number being 1950's bungalows. This area has high land values, so there are few starter homes, but there are a few townhomes clustered at Montroyal Village.
Forest Hill is mostly single family homes with a low profile, on wide lots with relatively few tall trees. The neighbourhood is mature, though newer & younger residents are upgrading or renovating their homes

Price Range: $350,000 to over $1,000,000
