Greater Vancouver Neighbourhoods: Edmonds (City of Burnaby)
These communities lie in southern Burnaby, just north of New Westminster and the SkyTrain line (Edmonds Station) west of Canada Way, and straddling Kingsway (highways 1A/99). The area has established infrastructure, is densely populated and close to jobs. The area has a number of neighbourhoods, including Edmonton, Richmond Park (north of Edmonds), Middlegate (around Griffiths), and Beresford (south of Kingsway).
The area is a mix of single-family, multi-family and townhouses and condos, with increasing density towards the southern boundary with New Westminster.
The area is served by 3 elementary schools, a public library and Burnaby South High. Post Secondary students are served by nearby BCIT and Douglas College in New Westminster.
The community is centered around the Middlegate Shopping Centre on Kingsway, and there are many shops, services and restaurants along Kingsway, Canada Way and along 10 th Avenue. Metrotown Mall is not far away to the northwest by road or by SkyTrain.
These neighbourhoods are surrounded by parkland to the north, protecting the area from the traffic noise of the Trans-Canada Highway. Robert Burnaby Park has an outdoor pool and recreational pathways. To the east is the Cariboo-Brunette River Conservation Area, which connects Burnaby Lake and industrial lands the Fraser River. The neighbourhood is connected by road to the Equestian Centre at the east end of the lake. The Canada Games recreational facilities and Queen's Park in adjoining New Wesminster are close by.
