Homes: Lower Lonsdale (North Vancouver)
Economic prosperity and rapid growth in the Lower Lonsdale area of North Vancouver, then with a population of 1500, led to the 1907 establishment of the City of North Vancouver, with West Vancouver going on its own in 1912. Ferry service with Vancouver began with a rowboat in 1866, followed by the SeaFoam steamship that continued until 1958. The SeaBus began service in 1977. The first Second Narrows Bridge was built in 1925 providing a rail and road link with the Lower Mainland to supplement the ferry service. Lower Lonsdale is the part of North Vancouver between Keith Road and the Burrard Inlet waterfront. This neighbourhood has fast access to downtown Vancouver via the SeaBus from Lonsdale Quay. Shopping There is lots of shopping at the Lonsdale Quay Market, or at the many shops & restaurants up Lonsdale Avenue. The SeaBus gives access in about 10 minute to shopping in Downtown Vancouver. Schools The Lower Lonsdale community is supported by Ridgeway Elementary, Queen Mary Community School, Carson Graham Secondary, and Sutherland Senior Secondary, with a public library at Keith Rd. Recreation 
Lower Lonsdale has a museum and lively street entertainment at the Lonsdale Quay and the nearby Waterfront Park.Homes Lower Lonsdale has only a few "character" homes and the area is mostly filled with apartments and townhouse developments, many with fantastic views of the waterfront and Downtown Vancouver. The community is popular with many of the young people. A new development is being built at the location of the old shipyards, mixing new buildings with old ones.
