Greater Vancouver Neighbourhoods: Bridgeport in City of Richmond
Bridgeport lies along the south bank of the North Arm of the Fraser River, with access to Vancouver via the Oaks Street Bridge and the Knight Street Bridge. Industrial areas fill most of the area, and especially on Mitchell Island. There is the small Tait residential area, with single family homes close to Bridgeport Rd, and multi-family housing closer to the river. Bridgeport will receive a SkyTrain station on the new Canada Line in 2009.
The Tait neighbourhood, north of Bridgeport Rd, is a stable single-family neighbourhood located in Bridgeport. It is surrounded by non-residential uses and bounded on the south by Bridgeport Road.
The Design District is located along Bridgeport Rd, west of the Knight St Bridge, which features all the top home decorating stores. You'll find everything from major names like IKEA, Pier 1, and Ethan Allen to unique stores selling a wide range of furnishing styles.
The residential area has a number of small parks. At the northwest of the community is a marina and the River Rock Casino Resort, beside the Bridgeport Market.
All schools & libraries are outside this neighbourhood.
