The Brentwood Park area is just south of both Capitol Hill and Mt BUrnaby, below Hastings Street between Willingdon Avenue to the west and Springer Avenue to the east. Brentwood Park (sometimes just called "Brentwood") is a mixed residential-commercial area, with the Lougheed Highway as the dividing line. The neighborhood has two SkyTrain stations on the Millennium Line: Brentwood Station and Holdom Station, and an important bus loop beside Brentwood Station, served by routes to UBC, Nanaimo Station, Kootenay Loop, and Metrotown.
The neighbourhood is mostly single-family homes with a number of high-rise and low-rise rental buildings in its south-east corner, around Springer Avenue, with several condominium towers planned along the SkyTrain tracks in the south. Many homes have great south-facing views over Burnaby and east facing views to Burnaby Mountain.
The neighbourhood is served by one elementary school, and Alpha High School. Post secondary students are close to Simon Fraser University to the east and BCIT to the south.
Brentwood Mall, a popular shopping centre with London Drugs, Zellers and Sears as anchor stores is in the southwest corner of the area. Hastings Street and the Willingdon-Loughheed Highway areas are busy shopping districts with many shops, services and restaurants.
The community has a number of small parks around the neighbourhood, one nestled around Beecher Creek which flows south to Still Creek, which flows into Burnaby Lake and is a salmon habitat. To the east is Kensington Park, with a pitch & put, a running track, and outdoor pool and an ice arena.
